Common ABS Module Issues
Honda vehicle ABS modules, model years 2008 through 2017, experience many issues when they begin to fail. Here are some of the common problems associated with these failing modules.
ABS Light
When this light is illuminated, it means that the vehicle's ABS has detected a problem and may not be functioning properly. This could be due to a variety of reasons, such as sensor malfunctions, wiring issues, low brake fluid, or problems with the ABS module itself.
Lost Comms
The error code U0121 indicates a loss of communication with the ABS control module. When this code appears, it generally means that the vehicle's main computer (ECU) is unable to communicate with the ABS module.
Pump Failure
When the ABS pump fails, the system cannot effectively manage the brake pressure during hard braking or slippery conditions, which may lead to longer stopping distances and reduced braking performance. Common causes include electrical issues, internal mechanical failures, or hydraulic fluid leaks.
Other Issues
There are a multitude of issues including speedometer not working, wheel speed sensor codes, hydraulic control unit (HCU) problems and more. It's important to properly diagnose these issues to ensure the proper repair is performed on your vehicle.
